OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois - Omar M. Hamoui, MD, has been named the new medical director of the Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Heart & Vascular Institute. 

Dr. Hamoui brings more than 20 years of personalized cardiology care experience and academic expertise to his new role.

Dr. Hamoui has led numerous academic initiatives locally, regionally and internationally. Dr. Hamoui earned The Charles Fisch Teacher of the Year Award for Excellence and Dedication in Teaching at Indiana University and will apply his experienced background in higher education to provide leadership in the planning and development of research programs at the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Dr. Hamoui has played a critical role in multiple medical trials and publications focused on his areas of medical interest, including general and interventional cardiology, antithrombotic agents, stroke prevention, congestive heart failure, hypertension and dyslipidemia.

He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
