41st Annual Walk To Remember

The Walk to Remember is a time when families from all over Indianapolis come together to remember and celebrate the lives of their babies that have ended all too soon. Some families may have recently lost a baby; others have been coming on this special day since the first walk in 1985. Family and friends are welcome to join.

Please be mindful and:

• Dress in casual wear
• Wear comfortable walking shoes    

Sign In

The Walk begins at Central Elementary School. After you sign in, please pick up a program booklet. Your baby’s name will be read aloud during the ceremony. Poems will only appear in the program and not be read aloud.

If your baby’s name isn’t in the program and you would like to have it read with the rest of the babies’ names, please inquire at the Walk Assistance table.

The Walk & Ceremony

At 11:00 a.m. the whole group will walk together to the Sarah Bolton Park. The street is filled with families, strollers, and wagons. It is a joyful walk and you often hear talking and laughter. It is a short distance (0.5 mile) to the park; but, if you have family members who cannot walk the distance, you may drive there. The ceremony will be held at the park and will last approximately 90 minutes. 

Some families have purchased “In Memory” signs in years past. You may place your sign from past years at the park before the Walk or purchase a new sign to be placed at the park. All signs will be available for you to collect after the ceremony if you wish. Any signs left behind will be sent to storage and put out again at next year’s walk. 

Registration

Registration is open. To ensure your family’s registration and the inclusion of your baby’s name in this year’s program, please register by September 7. 

For each family that registers, there will be one charm and one program book available. Charm bracelets, additional charms and other merchandise will be available for purchase at the event. Please note, the quantity of t-shirts available on the day of the event will be very limited and families are encouraged to pre-order their desired items. All pre-ordered items can be picked up before the Walk or shipped directly to your home. 

Drawings & Prizes

Our drawing for baskets and prizes will be in the gymnasium, as well. Come early to explore the many baskets and merchandise available. The drawing tickets will only be sold before the walk. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the ceremony. Winners may return to the school after the walk to collect their prizes. All event proceeds go to support the Walk to Remember.
