Hospice Volunteers

Hospice volunteers provide comfort & support for patients for whom curative measures are no longer an option. Franciscan Hospice provides one-on-one care to patients in their home, a hospital or extended care facility. The goal of hospice is to provide comfort through medical and spiritual means for patients who are preparing for end-of-life.

Hospice volunteering opportunities may include:

  • Provide companionship or caregiver relief: Be present. Talk to patients/veterans about their lives and listen to their stories, play an instrument, share favorite songs, etc. Provide temporary relief to caregivers/family to prevent caregiver fatigue.
  • Office Assistance: Provide light office work, assist with special projects or clerical work
  • Provide bereavement support
