Our Approach
Brain cancer is a malignant (cancerous) mass (tumor) of abnormal cells that forms in the brain tissue. Tumors that start in the brain are called primary tumors. When cancer starts elsewhere in the body and moves to the brain it's referred to as a metastatic brain tumor. The location, tumor size and rate of growth determine how your nervous system and brain function is affected.
A brain cancer diagnosis
Your provider may screen for brain cancer through a neurological exam to test your vision, hearing, coordination, strength and balance. Other common tests include an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), CT Scan (computerized tomographic) scan or a PET (positron emission tomography) scan.
Treatments & Procedures
Due to size, spread and location, surgery may not remove all the cancerous cells; in this instance, additional treatment may include Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy.
