About This Program

Patients with cancer may have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease, as cancer therapies may affect the heart and vascular systems. It is important to prevent, monitor and treat cardiovascular disease in patients going through cancer treatment to ensure long-term health.

This focus of care is in response to research studies that have shown that some drugs for cancer treatment may have unanticipated side effects that can negatively impact a patient’s heart health.

Our cardio-oncology program in Indianapolis brings cancer and heart doctors together to collaborate in an effort to provide comprehensive care. This program provides cardiovascular care to patients with cancer who have, or are at risk for, heart disease, such as heart failure.

Franciscan Health’s cardio-oncology program in Indianapolis has been named a Gold Center of Excellence by the International Cardio-Oncology Society and ranks among the best centers of its kind in the world.
