Lymphoma

Our Approach

Ultrasound Your cancer’s stage helps determine your prognosis and lymphoma treatment. At Franciscan Health we are one of two programs in the state to offer Car T-Cell Therapy in the treatment of large B-cell lymphoma. Our caring and qualified treatment teams utilize an interdisciplinary approach, including cancer doctors, nurses trained in Infusion Therapy, pharmacists who work directly with medical staff, social service staff and dietitians to help coordinate home aspects of treatment.

What is lymphoma?

Lymphoma is cancer that affects the white blood cells in your body’s lymphatic system (lymph glands, spleen, tonsils, thymus gland, and bone marrow), which helps to fight infections. Types of lymphoma include Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, with the latter being more common. There are subtypes of lymphoma as well.

How is lymphoma diagnosed?

Lymphoma can be diagnosed by your doctor with a physical exam to check for swollen lymph nodes in your neck, armpit and groin or through the use of diagnostic imaging procedures like ultrasound, X-rays, CT Scan (computed tomography) and PET (positron emission tomography). Blood and liver function tests and surgical tissue samples (biopsy) from a lymph node may be ordered to help determine if lymphoma cancer cells are present.
