About This Treatment
Immigrants seeking changes in their legal status, looking to obtain entry to the United States or seeking U.S. residency (green card) must receive a thorough immigration medical examination by a certified civil surgeon (immigration doctor).
Franciscan Health has all appropriate designations to conduct immigration medical exams. Our experienced providers can evaluate immunization requirements and records and complete federally required forms, including Form I-693.
Adult immigration services
An adult examination (for people 15 years or older) typically consists of:
- Physical exam
- Tuberculin skin test (TST) to check for current or prior tuberculosis (TB) infection
- Blood test for syphilis (RPR)
If you don't have reliable immunization records, adults will need a vaccination for:
- Chickenpox (varicella)
- Measles, mumps and rebella (MMR)
- Tetanus-diphtheria (Td)
You cannot receive MMR or chickenpox vaccine if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant in the next month. If you need a vaccination, we can test you for pregnancy and provide you with almost immediate results.
Pediatric immigration services
A pediatric immigration examination (children 14 years or younger) does not require blood testing. The exam typically consists of:
- Physical exam
- Tuberculin skin test (TST) for children age 2 or older to check for current or prior tuberculosis (TB) infection
- Review and update of routine pediatric immunizations
