About This Treatment
The Franciscan Health pediatric physical therapy (PT) team treats children, from infants to adolescents, who have acute (sudden) or ongoing health issues. We have a strong commitment to open communication between therapists and your family.
Therapists use a variety of challenging and fun activities to enhance children’s learning and improve their physical function and independence.
What is pediatric physical therapy (PT)?

Pediatric PT/OT Direct Access
No physician referral is needed for outpatient physical (PT) and occupational (OT) therapy.
The States of Indiana and Illinois have direct access to both physical and occupational therapy services. Direct access allows patients to seek and receive examination and treatment from a licensed physical or occupational therapist without a prescription or a referral from a physician.
Direct access to PT and OT services is widely accepted by most insurance plans. You are encouraged to contact your insurance provider to determine if you need a referral for therapy in terms of insurance coverage.
