PT/OT Direct Access
No physician referral is needed for outpatient physical (PT) and occupational (OT) therapy.
The States of Indiana and Illinois have direct access to both physical and occupational therapy services. Direct access allows patients to seek and receive examination and treatment from a licensed physical or occupational therapist without a prescription or a referral from a physician.
Direct access to PT and OT services is widely accepted by most insurance plans. You are encouraged to contact your insurance provider to determine if you need a referral for therapy in terms of insurance coverage.
Virtual Visits For Rehabilitation
From the comfort and safety of your own home, our patients can still be seen and heard by a physical, occupational or speech therapist, as it relates to your rehabilitation journey. Through virtual visits, therapists are able to appropriately evaluate, assess function and guide you through your personalized home rehabilitation plan.
Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation
We are dedicated to providing quality inpatient rehabilitation services in a patient-centered environment. Our comprehensive, compassionate team of doctors, nurses and therapists work together with just one goal in mind - to help our patients reach their highest potential and achieve their goals.
Our professional team assists our patients in achieving their maximum independent physical and cognitive function through a coordinated and interdisciplinary approach to intensive inpatient rehabilitation. We help patients learn to perform activities of daily living to the best of their ability before going home.
Am I a candidate for inpatient rehabilitation?
Our rehabilitation admissions team works with the patient, their family and hospital discharge planner to help identify if inpatient rehabilitation is the appropriate next step in recovery. Additionally, the following is required:
- Medically stable and not on life support or ventilator
- Needing close medical supervision from a specialist
- Needing 24/7 rehab nursing
- Needing care from at least two therapies: physical, occupational or speech
- Able to participate in 3 hours of therapy per day

What doctor specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation?
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, also sometimes referred to as physiatrists, provide comprehensive care for conditions like brain injuries, pain management and neuromuscular disorders. They create custom, individualized plans to treat the whole person. PM&R physicians often oversee a team of medical professionals including occupational therapists, physical therapists and physician extenders.
